3 ways to get back on track…

In Uncategorized on June 8, 2010 at 5:18 pm

As an entrepreneur, you know that your success cannot depend on the opinions of others. Like the wind, opinions change…like the weather, opinions change often. To succeed at anything, you must stay the course…no matter how difficult the terrain gets!

Here are some tips to help you on your journey.

1. Avoid Negativity. Negative people are all around us. They can include our loved ones as well as dear friends. Most often, the words of total strangers create negativity as if someone who doesn’t know or understand you can voice a reasonably thought out opinion about you.

No, you shouldn’t avoid those who are close to you, rather there are areas of conversation that are less profitable and you may need to deviate with the brilliance that you have. Accept criticism constructively, but steer the conversation away from nonstop negative talk. Negativity will grow on you unless you take control.

2. Build Yourself Up. No, don’t become an ego maniac either, but encourage yourself. How can you do this? Read about champions who have succeeded and who have gone before you. Oh, and if you find yourself swelling with too much pride, remember somebody is always better than us.

3. Jump Back to Square One. Entrepreneurs are human and we falter and if this happens recall those things that encouraged you to take your “leap of faith” in the first place. Recall what it takes to succeed: discipline, self-confidence, independence, hard work, sacrifice, etc. Look forward to the anticipated results:security, income, independence etc. Finally, remember the job you hated doing the most..imagine yourself working there again and that should jolt you back on track.

So, as champions we need to cast off negative thoughts and embrace things that inspire and uplift us on the path of excellence.
